KPop Demon Hunters capitalizing on wave of Korean media popularity, prof says Learning Languages and Cultures The Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters has become the streaming service’s most-watched film ever, and some of its songs are breaking chart records. Ji-yoon An, assistant professor of Asian studies at the University of B.C., says the film occupies an interesting space as a Hollywood production that did not originate in Korea, though she notes it is made by Korean Canadian creator Maggie Kang. Learning Languages and Cultures: UBC-KAIST Online Language Exchange Event

UBC-KAIST Online Language Exchange Event Learning Languages and Cultures On March 20 and 27, students in UBC’s Korean language program participated in a two-day online language exchange with students from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Held over Zoom, the event brought together learners from UBC’s KORN 200 and KORN 302 classes and KAIST students currently studying English. The sessions were structured to provide equal time for both languages.
