✔️ UBC Asian Studies students participating in a GoGlobal study abroad exchange (Fall & Spring terms)

Students planning to study abroad in Korea during the 2025-2026 academic year are invited to apply for POSCO Canada student mobility funding in the amount of CAD $7,500.
The funds donated by POSCO Canada will be used to support one UBC Asian Studies student who participates in a GoGlobal study abroad exchange experience for two terms (fall and spring) at one of UBC’s partner institutions in Korea (academic year 2025-2026). Preference will be given to students majoring in Asian Language and Culture (focus on Korean Language and Culture).
With this philanthropic support, POSCO wishes to help recipients better understand Korean and Canadian culture and contribute to the promotion of friendly relations between Canada and the Republic of Korea.
Submissions
Students wishing to be considered for this funding support should submit a short application to the departmental Korean Studies Awards Committee and include the following:
- unofficial UBC transcript
- maximum 2-page essay stating their goals for their exchange year in Korea
- letter of reference from a UBC Asian Studies Korean Studies faculty member
- copy of your acceptance/placement email from UBC’s GoGlobal office
Deadline: Monday, February 24, 2025 by 12pm

As per UBC GoGlobal practice, after their return from UBC, the student recipient will be required to write up a short reflection piece about their experience (https://global.ubc.ca/go-global/student-experiences), and share that with both the department for dissemination to POSCO Canada and to the department community through the departmental newsletter.
